THIS GAL KNOWS WHAT SHE’S DOING
After graduating from Zulia University in Maracaibo with a degree in Communications, she worked in radio and television in Caracas until she was transferred to the Caribbean island of Margarita to serve as the Public Relations spokes person for the Venezuelan Ministry of the Environment.
In 1981 Judith received a scholarship from the Venezuelan government to pursue a graduate degree in Journalism at Roosevelt University, and Columbia College in Chicago, Illinois. Wile studying there, she married Chicago lawyer David Crocker.
In 1984, Judith returned to Venezuela and began her journalistic career by purchasing space in various newspapers, selling advertising and publishing a column. That led to the creation of her own, English language newspaper.

MIRA! which she published with her husband David.
Mira! started small but quickly caught the attention of American and European tourists and Margarita Islands, over 15 years, expanded to Caracas and many Venezuelan cities. But it didn’t stop there. Soon the islands of Trinidad and Tobago, were carrying the paper. Published primarily in English, Mira! featured special editions in Spanish, French and German.
Mira! traveled the world with its loyal readers who, upon leaving Venezuela, did not want to give it up. Associated Press, the New York Times, the Boston Globe, the Philadelphia Inquirer and periodicals from Canada and England showered Mira! with critical praise for its penetrating insight and remarkable candor about Venezuelan life.
Upon her return to Florida, Judith became a Sales Representative for various English and Spanish publications in Broward County and for Spanish FM Radio in Miami, making solid contacts and developing lasting relationships in the media. Becoming familiar with the local market was her top priority.
Two years later, with her in-depth knowledge of the English speaking market of Isla Margarita and, using her sparkling new knowledge of the American market, she launched her own newspaper in June, 2002.
Instantly, the newspaper filled a major void in the Spanish language market. En USA is one of a kind. En USA is a hit. |
